EWGA TURNS 21 IN VEGAS!


Know what that means?  It's time to get the party started!  Registration is now open!

EWGA's Golfpalooza is one of our most anticipated events of the year, bringing together women from all across the Association for fun-filled, action-packed days of playing golf, building friendships, networking, forging new business relationships, sharing successes, celebrating accomplishments and learning new skills.  There's a ton of activities packed into the 2012 Golfpalooza agenda, plus à la carte options for guests, bountiful golf opportunities, and Saturday night free to explore the Vegas Strip, take in a show, or simply take in all the sights and sounds with your EWGA friends!

LONE STAR CUP X

Fifteen members from the Dallas EWGA chapter participated in the 2011 Lone Star Cup at Squaw Valley in Glen Rose on November 3 - 5.  Winners in the better ball format on Friday included Wendy Platukas & Carol Scott, Barb Walters & Diana Gats, and Jeri Phillips & Ann Jaycox.  On Saturday, the singles winners were Audrey Yazbeck, Melanie Holdridge, Angela Ellexson, and Shawn Kruger.  The Houston chapter took home the cup for the second consecutive year.  But all the participants enjoyed connecting with other members from Texas and Arkansas during and after the matches.

GIRLFRIEND GOLF

This spring we will be debuting Girlfriend Golf which will replace weekly league play. Girlfriend Golf will be played on Wednesdays after work and is open to anyone who wants to play. No long term commitment is required so come join the fun if and when your schedule allows.

During the year several locations will be offered starting with the Hank Haney facility in Lewisville in April. It features a short 9-hole course which should help everyone get in the swing of things plus it will be budget friendly.

ASK THE CADDIE DADDY

Ever wonder what golf with a caddie is like?  Thought this was only available to pros, private clubs or at super cool destination courses? Here’s your chance to learn more. 


Friend to Dallas EWGA, Owner and President, of Caddie Club Mark Neace, aka the Caddie Daddy, is a 7-year veteran caddie and has a passion for providing the highest level of service for the most discerning clients, and he is a friend to women’s golf.  Check out one of Mark's most recent blog posts regarding women’s golf and look forward to meeting him Sunday, February 26th at our Kickoff Brunch.

NINE AND WINE SERIES

BIGGEST Thanks to Club Corp for their support of Nine and Wine for 2010 & 2011!
Each Nine and Wine event included:
  • 30 minute pre-golf clinic(4:30 pm)
  • 9 Holes (with cart)(5 pm)
  • Following the Nine...First glass of wine and appetizers
  • $45

Planning is underway for a third Nine and Wine series in 2012.  Dates and details will be available at our Chapter Kickoff Event in February.

EVERY WOMAN'S GOLF VIDEO CONTEST

Think about the times you learned a new rule, heard a golf maxim (no 3 putts, greens in regulation) or better understood why there are so many different parts of golf etiquette.  It was usually during girlfriend golf when, by choice or happenstance, one of your foursome demonstrated it while another leaned over and quietly explained. 

We all learn best by example and here’s your chance to have some fun while helping us all learn, and remember, more about the rules, etiquette and tried and true maxims of the game.

All you have to do is round up one or a few friends (one to four entrants per video), grab your iPhone, camcorder or digital camera with video capability and create a 90 second (or less) video that educates or demonstrates a rule, etiquette tip or why/what those golf maxims mean. 

Keep it simple, keep it short, and let’s have some fun!
